So the big surprise story in the world of TV News in this country is that Kevin Newman is leaving as anchor of Global National in August. He says he is seeking "rest and creative renewal." One wonders what exactly is up at Global, however. Many are speculating this is due to the money troubles over at Canwest. The new owners may want to shed a lot of expenses once they take over. The theories are flying that Newman knows what is coming for Global and is getting out while the getting is good. Also, now seems to be a good time to seek out a well-paying job at some company that might be willing to give you a good pension when you retire -- a big question mark at the current place given the state of things.
Question -- who'll be replacing Newman as anchor? I don't think that network really has anyone in the wings.
